“Our child made tremendous improvement in his behaviors! He felt safe and he and I trusted the staff.”

“I work in the Behavioral Health Unit at Juvenile Services in Reno as a community Outreach Specialist. I wanted to send you a quick update regarding a client who was recently discharged earlier than expected due to needing major surgery that will be taking place in his home state. I wanted to let you know how fabulous my client’s therapist was throughout his entire time at Benchmark. His was a difficult case due to his medical issues and the therapist really stepped up and went above and beyond. He coordinated appointments, calls, helped gather information to help with insurance and communicated with us every step of the way. He was instrumental in the tedious process of trying to navigate options for surgery. My client excelled both in school (all A’s) and in counseling while at Benchmark. He returned with an amazing discharge and safety plan and has been doing well since returning to our community. I am sure you are bombarded with constant issues and fires to put out and I know a lot of times the good goes unspoken, so I really wanted to take the opportunity to tell how wonderful Benchmark and the therapist was to work with. You made what could have been a very difficult case very manageable.”

Our son seems to be adjusting well to the Independent Living program. I can’t believe how much he has changed. I sent you a boy, but you sent back a man. J He even has a job already and lots of ideas. You know how he is, can’t seem to sit still.”

“Once again I would like to thank you for all that you did for our young man. He continues to do well in the foster home, in school, and in the community.”

Once a long time ago there was a boy. When he was little he did not like being told what to do. So he did whatever he wanted to. Eventually he developed a habit of doing this. Soon not even his own parents could handle him. The parents would often get so frustrated that they would start yelling at him. He didn’t like this. So he would yell louder, say more hurtful things & use more vulgar language than them. For many years this went on. He started drinking. Soon drinking turned into harder drugs. He started to become psychotic & violent. He started hurting the ones he loved. Before he knew it his habits caught up to him. He did something stupid & got incarcerated for it. He didn’t know it at the moment but this was the best day of his life. At the time he was furious. He wanted revenge because the judge didn’t give him what he wanted. He gave him what he needed. So he went to a treatment facility in Utah to change from his old ways and became the best of his full potential.”

“Coming here was the best day of my life. My previous treatment center was more lockdown and I hated that, but when I came to Benchmark everything changed. I’ve been working for this my whole life, trying to get to a better place. And the thing I like about this place is people really do care, all the teachers, staff and the therapists. Now that I’m getting ready to leave I can’t wait, because they changed my life.”
